We’re at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week talking online privacy and security, and checking out all the hot new tech trends.

This year, it’s all about the IoT (Internet of Things) – and the privacy and security concerns that come along with it. As described by USA Today, the IoT “simply means that an object has sensors embedded in it and the ability to send the data it collects outward, usually via Wi-Fi or the Internet.” With so many new devices, and so much data collection and transmission, the IoT brings many privacy risks. As such, it’s more important than ever that we’re aware of these risks and take steps to protect our data.

Edward Snowden, speaking at CES via Beam, echoed this sentiment when referring to all the tech devices at CES: “They don’t really think of the security of these things very much,” he said. During his talk – which we were very happy to attend – he also covered surveillance and expressed excitement about all the new tech on display.

The IoT and security aren’t the only trends at CES this week – as reported by Mashable (and the Golden Frog team at the event) here are some other top trends:

  • Drones
  • “Next level” streaming
  • Virtual reality
  • Smart homes
  • Hoverboards & personal transportation
  • Health connected devices
